‘Conflict and Migration in Museums’, the Forthcoming Seminar at the V&A Museum of Childhood (London, December 3rd, 2013)

The seminar, promoted within the AHRC Collaborative Award Programme, The Child in the World: Empire, Diaspora and Global Citizenship, developed through the cooperation of Queen Mary University of London and the V&A Museum of Childhood, is aimed at reflecting on ‘Conflict and Migration in Museums’ and, drawing on lessons learnt in the UK, France and Australia, at opening up a debate on how to use conflict constructively.

Investigating ‘Cultural Policy Frameworks (Re)constructing National and Supranational Identities: The Balkans and the European Union’

Since its origin, in 1954, the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) has been striving towards an open, democratic and inclusive Europe in which culture is a valued and key contributor. Among the different activities it promotes, ECF publishes work related to arts and cultural practices and advocacy actions, narrative and knowledge sharing initiatives and cultural development in Europe.

We report here about the latest ECF publication, “Cultural Policy Frameworks (Re)constructing National and Supranational Identities: The Balkans and the European Union”, authored by Aleksandar Brkić. The volume reports the outcomes of the homonym Project, which won the 8th Cultural Policy Research Award in 2011.

As stated by Sabine Frank (Director of the Platform for Intercultural Europe, “During a time when the idea of Europe, and the EU in particular, is tainted with economic crisis and democratic decline, Aleksandar Brkić’s analysis of the role of cultural networks in helping Europe serve people […]

Training and Guidelines for Museum Mediators Professionals in Europe: A Call for Applications for Museum Mediators Courses Throughout Portugal, Italy, Spain and Estonia

The Project “Museum Mediators – Guidelines for Museum Mediators professionals in Europe”, funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme, sub-programme of Leonardo da Vinci, aims to develop a common training ground among museum professionals in the five participating countries (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Estonia and Denmark): by doing so, the project will stimulate the creation of training and professional guidelines that will sustain the work of Museum Mediation and Education officers in the European Union.

With a common training framework, museum and heritage education professionals can develop their skills, in communication, education and management for the museum and cultural heritage settings. By creating this common ground, it is possible to further develop a professional and certified system where professionals can evolve through a career standard and, also, create networks and mobility projects across the EU.

The course will be repeated in each country that participates in the project, offering a comprehensive […]
